    Please note that the start time for the Fun Run is now 1440 and not 1435 as originally published.  This is to accommodate the necessary road closures to ensure the safety of all participants.  Any questions, please contact organiser@charmouthchallenge.co.uk
  • Update 27 March 2015 - Race Numbers
    Plans for race are well underway.  We are making good progress with the County Council about the road closures.   The race numbers will be ordered next week and should start to be sent out from 15 May 2015.  If you entered via the Runners World website, please pick your number on raceday.   • Update 16 October 2014 - 2015 Race Date has been set!
    The date for next year's Charmouth Challenge has been set for Saturday 4 July 2015.  Entry forms should be available in November. Any questions please contact organiser@charmouthchallenge.co.uk

  • Update 23 May 2014 - Race Numbers
    The race numbers have started to be sent out.  If you supplied a 'stamped addressed envelope' you will receive the number shortly.  The race number confirms your entry into the race.  If you entered via Runners World website, have not signed your application form or did not supply an SAE, you will need to pick up the number on the day.  The Registration desk opens at 1230.  Any questions please contact organiser@charmouthchallenge.co.uk

  • Update 7 Jul7 2013 - Provisional Individual Results Challenge, Mini Challenge  and Fun Run
    The draft results are published for you all to see how well you have done.  If you have any queries, please contact the race organiser.    The Fun Run results are based on the child's school year in July 2013.  Full & final results, together with prize lists will be available in about 10 days time.

  • Update 3 July 2013 - Entry on Race Day
    You can still enter the races on the day.  The entry fee is £10 for the 'Challenge'.  The Registration desk opens at 1230 with the Fun Run & Mini Challenge starting at 1400 and the main Challenge race starting at 1430. 
  • Update 3 July 2013 - Posting of Race numbers.- Last Day 27 June 2013
    No more race numbers have been returned to 'postal' entrants using Royal Mail.  This ensures no race numbers are lost in transit.   • Update 13 June 2013 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION for RESIDENTS & VISITORS.
    In consultation with Dorset County Council, it has been agreed to close Lower Sea Lane, Wesley Close, Bridge Road (1400 – 1415 & 1430 - 1445) and Stonebarrow Lane (1400 – 1500) for the start of the Fun Run and the Challenge running races.  This is for the safety of public and the race participants.   The organisers apologise for any convenience caused.  DCC Closure Notice
  • Update 28 May 2013 - Deadline for Transfer from last years race has  PASSED                                             The deadline for transferring your entry from last year's postponed race to the race this July has now passed.  Unfortunately, you will have to re - enter the race and pay again. 
  • Update 25 April 2013 - Deadline for Transfer from last years race - 24 May 2013
    If you entered last year's postponed Challenge and did not run the rescheduled Challenge in September 2012, you can TRANSFER your entry to the 2013 Challenge race on 6 July 2013 FOC.  However you must let us know by 1600 on 24 May 2013.  Many of you have let us know (see list) but many of you still have to get in touch; please do so NOW.  After this date, you will have to re - enter the race and pay again.  Please contact organiser@charmouthchallenge.co.uk

  • Update 2 April 2013 - Introduction of Mini Challenge for over 12s
    Having had to shorten the Fun Run course due to the coastal erosion, we have introduced a 'mini challenge' for runners over 12 years old.  The course will be just over 3 miles long, the first part being a full lap of the fun run course.  The  entry cost will be the same as the Fun Run.  The start time will be 1400, the same as the Fun Run.   • Update 8 March 2013 - Change to race start times, Fun Run 1400 & Challenge 1430
    After much deliberation, we have decided to alter the course of the Fun Run.  The extreme weather of 2012 & the coastal erosion has left some of the South West coast path close to Charmouth difficult underfoot especially for youngsters. In order to avoid any of the quicker runners in the main Challenge race being impeded by the juniors we have had to adjust the times accordingly.  These times may change slightly dependent once Dorset County Council review the road closure applications.  Any questions please contact organiser@charmouthchallenge.co.uk
  • Update 20 December 2012 - Entry forms now available for 6 July 2013
    Races numbers will not be printed until April and will be sent straight out.  If you pay by cheque, this will be banked and this will confirm your entry to the race.  If you have entered the race via the Runners World website, please collect your race number on race day.   • Update 13 September 2013  -  Additional Information
    We are almost ready for rerunning of the Challenge this Sunday.  This is a rescheduled event and there are a number of minor changes that you should be aware of: 

    1. ALL runners will need to come registration desk, open between 0900 - 1045 to get a NEW race number.  If you know your '7 July' race number that will help speed up the process.

    2. The registration area will be hectic so please leave plenty of time to pick up your new number and fill in the 'contact' information.

    3. There will no be Fire Engine at the finish of the Challenge as a number of the 'fire' crew are running with you!  If you need to cool down, we have a very big pool, with wave machine, 100m from the school.

    4. There will be a reduced number of marshalls, placed in key locations, who have given up their time again, so please show your appreciation to them

    5.  The 'normal' water station at top of Stonebarrow Lane, just over 1 mile, will be 'help yourself'.'

    6. You will be running in beautiful countryside in a World Heritage site, with kind permission of the local landowners.  Please respect this and bring your litter home.  Anyone seen littering will be disqualified.

  • Update 25 August 2012 -  Transfer of pre paid Challenge Race Numbers
    Following the cancellation of the July race, and you paid to enter entered Charmouth Challenge and have been allocated a race number, you have a choice to make:

    1. You can transfer your entry to the Charmouth Challenge on 16 September 2012, at no additional cost or

    2. You can transfer your entry to one of the 3 'self-navigation' courses available on Highways & Skyways at no additional cost or

    3. You can transfer your entry, at no additional cost, to the Charmouth Challenge on 6 July 2013 or

    4. Transfer your race number / entry to any other person to participate in any of the aforementioned events.

  • Update 2030 16 July 2012 - FUN RUN & CHALLENGE  - New entries welcome
    Following the cancellation of the July race, we are very keen to attract race entries for the rescheduled race on September 16 2012 @ 1100. .....Link to 16 Sept 2012 Race Entry Form
  • Update 1100 13 July 2012 - FUN RUN & CHALLENGE  - rescheduled Sunday 16 September 2012
    A decision has been made to re-schedule the Challenge and the Fun Run running races. These were cancelled on the 7 July 2012 due to extreme weather conditions. They will now take place on Sunday 16 September 2012. The Challenge will start at 1100 and the Fun Run at 1400. If you or your children had entered for either the Challenge or the Fun Run, your race numbers will be eligible for the race in September so please store them in a safe place and remember where that safe place is!
    The Highways & Skyways will also take part on that day and if you wish your 'Challenge' race entry can be transferred to either of the 8, 13 & 18 mile courses.  More detailed information to follow....
  • Update 0800 7 July 2012 - FUN RUN & CHALLENGE CANCELLED
    Due to adverse weather conditions, the decision has been made to cancel both the the Fun Run & the Challenge for the safety of all participants & marshals.  This follows an update from the Met Office.
  • Update 0800 7 July 2012 - FUN RUN CANCELLED
    Due to extreme weather conditions, the decision has been made to cancel the Fun Run for the safety of all. The reason for this is the ability to access the coast path in the event of an incident.  A decision on the Challenge will be made at 1100 
  • Update 6 July 2012 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Weather Update.
    Following a review of the ever changing weather situation, the race organiser has decided that BOTH the Fun Run & the Challenge will go ahead as scheduled.

    A selection of photographs of the main race are now available to buy from a local photographer.  These were taken at the 6 mile mark at the start of the final climb, so you probably do not look your best but they do capture the 'Challenge' spirit......... Link to Gallery
